【Space Performance】
Although the Seal 06 DM-i is said to be a midsize car, its space performance is just average. It feels similar to the Sagitar, just slightly larger, and it would be more appropriate to call it an A+ class car. Of course, there is definitely no problem with seating people in the back row for daily use. For someone like me who is chubby and 1.7 meters tall, the head and leg space is sufficient. The trunk space can only be said to be够用, but there is a problem: the trunk does not have a power tailgate. When opening the door, it can only open halfway, and the remaining half has to be lifted manually; it cannot fully pop open by itself like Volkswagen models. Adding a spring would actually be enough, but I don't know why it doesn't come with one from the factory. Could it be to save costs? Moreover, closing the tailgate requires a certain technique, otherwise it won't close properly (actually, you have to use force).
【Range and Energy Consumption】
Mine is the version with 80km pure electric range. In actual use, the pure electric range is only about 50km (because it automatically switches to HEV mode when the battery is low). The battery is approximately 10 kWh, and the electricity consumption per 100 kilometers is basically around 15 kWh. It is very sufficient for short-distance urban commuting, but if I want to go out for a slightly longer trip besides going to work, I have to use hybrid mode. The engine is 1.5L. After filling up the tank, the displayed fuel range is over 2000 kilometers, but in actual use, it is basically around 1200 kilometers. The fuel gauge has a high "optimistic component".
【Charging Time】
The 80km luxury model does not have fast charging, and the only charging port has a peak power of only 3.3kW. However, fortunately, the battery is not large, so charging basically takes about two to three hours. However, there is one thing to note: if you charge with the air conditioner on in the car, the charging power is only a little over 2kW. The charging process is still greatly affected by the air conditioner (mainly because the power is too low).
【Driver Assistance】
The 2025 Seal 06 DM-i comes standard with TianShen ZhiYan C across the entire lineup. Although it is the lowest level of driver assistance in the BYD system, it is still very sufficient for use on highways. It is much better than ordinary L2-level driver assistance, and lane changes are overall smooth. Moreover, after the recent OTA upgrade to the new version, the smoothness of driver assistance and automatic parking has significantly improved. At least, the ghost braking caused by misjudgment when driving on highways has decreased. But the level of valet parking still needs improvement. Last time I wanted to shoot a video to show the valet parking function, somehow it almost hit a stone pillar, which scared me. Unattended valet parking still has considerable risks; it's better to honestly use ordinary automatic parking.
【Cabin and Interior】
The interior design of the Seal 06 DM-i is relatively simple. I chose the warm Smoke Tea exterior and black interior. Maybe because it is the base model, the interior feels relatively shabby. For example, the position of the sunroof button is directly a black square (because there is no sunroof), and there is no vanity mirror on the driver's side, giving it a somewhat minimalist feel. Also, the smell inside the car is indeed quite strong. I have had the car for two months, and it has dissipated a bit, but if I don't drive it for a few days, the smell is still obvious. Especially on the way to work after breakfast in the morning, sometimes driving a little faster makes me feel a bit nauseous.
【Driving Experience】
Because my other car is an SUV, the Seal 06 DM-i, as a sedan, gave me the first impression of being very flexible and小巧. But the suspension feels a bit soft, and body roll is obvious when cornering. The interior sound insulation is average, and tire noise is very obvious on highways. In terms of power, when accelerating hard or accelerating when the battery is low, there will be obvious engine roar, giving a feeling of a small horse pulling a large cart.
Summary: My base model 2025 Seal 06 DM-i 80km luxury version, although there are many things to complain about and areas to be optimized, considering the landing price of over 60,000 yuan, it actually feels quite cost-effective.
